Blink49 launches creator studio division led by former Maker exec Mickey Meyer

Canada’s Blink49 Studios is launching a creator-focused division led by former Group Nine Studios and Maker Studios exec Mickey Meyer.

The LA-based unit, Creator Studios, will focus on teaming up with creators who have “built meaningful, direct relationships with audiences, with an emphasis on developing scalable IP across scripted, unscripted and digital-first format,” said Blink49.

The new division will work closely with Blink49’s existing infrastructure across scripted, unscripted and brand-entertainment divisions to develop, finance and produce content.

Meyer will report to Blink49’s president of global unscripted television Tara Long.

Meyer was previously an executive in the early days of Maker Studios, prior to its acquisition by Disney, before moving to digital media outfit Group Nine Studios and eventually climbing to president.

He has also been involved in the launch of several digital-media start-ups including JASH, which he co-founded with Sarah Silverman, Reggie Watts, Tim & Eric and Michael Cera in 2012, and creator-focused TV and film prodco The Unreasonable, which he co-founded with Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe in 2023.

Earlier this year, he also co-founded creator-driven investment fund Altitude.

The unveiling of the Creator Studios division comes two weeks after Blink49 announced the launch of a microseries division https://www.c21media.net/news/blink49-targets-microdrama-growth-with-creation-of-vertical-content-vp-role/ led by Canadian producer and filmmaker Tieren Hawkins.
